Our EfL curriculum empowers students to grow into confident, responsible and well-rounded young adults who can make informed choices for themselves and contribute positively to society. It is structured around the three core themes of Relationships and Sex Education, Living in the Wider World, and Health and Wellbeing, ensuring a balanced and coherent journey through Key Stages 3 and 4.
We aim for students to:
- Relationships and Sex Education (RSE): Develop safe, respectful and healthy relationships, both online and offline. Students learn about consent, respect, equality, family life, and the impact of relationships on wellbeing. They are equipped with the skills to navigate complex emotions, peer influence and social pressures with confidence and maturity. Students will learn about intimate relationships and learn how to stay safe as they enter into adulthood.
- Living in the Wider World: Understand the world around them, including the values of democracy, equality and diversity in modern Britain. Students explore financial literacy, careers education, digital citizenship and the responsibilities of being active citizens, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to their communities and future workplaces.
- Health and Wellbeing: Make healthy, informed lifestyle choices that support both physical and mental health. This includes understanding risks related to drugs, alcohol, online activity and peer pressure, alongside building resilience, self-esteem and strategies for managing stress and change.
Through a carefully sequenced curriculum, students revisit key themes at increasing depth and complexity as they mature. Lessons are delivered in a safe and inclusive environment that encourages open discussion, reflection and critical thinking.
Our intent is that every student leaves secondary school with the knowledge, skills and values to lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives, and the character to thrive in the wider world.
