Phone Free CHSL

At CHSL, we want students to enjoy a school day where they can focus fully on learning, and building positive friendships. Being phone-free helps to reduce distractions, supports wellbeing and encourages students to be more present in lessons and around school. 

 

This approach forms part of the wider Cheshire Phone-Free Education initiative, which aims to support young people to learn, focus and thrive during the school day. 

  • Students should either leave their mobile phone at home or bring it to school in their phone pouch. 
  • On arrival, phones and smart watches must be placed inside the pouch and locked by a member of staff. 
  • The pouch stays in the student’s school bag throughout the school day. 
  • Students cannot use, check or access their phone during the school day. 
  • At the end of the day, students unlock their pouch using the unlocking stations outside school exits. 
  • If a student arrives late, their pouch will be locked at reception. 
  • If a student needs to leave school early, reception staff will unlock the pouch. 
  • If parents/carers need to contact their child during the school day, they should ring school directly. 
  • If a student loses their pouch, parents/carers will need to order a replacement using the link below; while waiting for it, the student must hand their phone in on arrival.
