School Performance

The Academy has been consistently proud for many years of students' excellent performance on all of its courses. Once again in 2018 the Academy celebrated impressive results, sustaining the Academy's reputation for high academic attainment:

  • 85% of Year 11 students achieved a Grade 4 or higher in English, equivalent to Grade C or above in previous years
  • 81% achieved a Grade 4 or higher in Mathematics
  • 76% achieved a Grade 4 or higher in both English and Maths
  • 85% achieved Grade 4 or higher in Science
  • 49% achieved a 'standard' English Baccalaureate pass (Grade 4 or higher in English, Maths, Science, a Humanities subject and a Modern Language)
  • 72% of students achieved a 'strong pass' (Grade 5 or higher) in English
  • 58% achieved a Grade 5 or higher in Mathematics
  • 69% achieved Grade 5 or higher in Science
  • 53% achieved a Grade 5 or higher in both English and Maths
  • 30% achieved a 'strong' English Baccalaureate pass (Grade 5 or higher in English, Maths, Science, a Humanities subject and a Modern Language)
  • 26% of students achieved a Grade 7 or higher in English, equivalent to Grade A or above in previous years, with 7 students achieving a Grade 9 (the highest possible grade)
  • 27% achieved a Grade 7 or higher in Mathematics, with 8 students achieving a Grade 9
  • 17% achieved a Grade 7 or higher in both English and Maths
  • 35% achieved a Grade 7 or higher in Science, with 21 students achieving at least one Grade 9, 11 students achieving at least two Grade 9s and 6 students achieving three Grade 9s
  • 32% of all GCSE grades were at Grade 7 or above (or the equivalent A or higher)
  • 18% of all GCSE grades were at Grade 8 or above (or the equivalent A* or higher)
  • All students left with at least 4 Core GCSEs
  • 99% of students left with at least 5 GCSEs

This data, published in January 2018, is for students who completed key stage 4 in 2015, which is the most recent data available.

  • Students staying in employment for at least 2 terms after key stage 4 was 96% compared to 93% at local authority state-funded schools and 94% England state-funded schools.
  • Students staying in education for at least 2 terms after key stage 4 was 89% compared to 83% at local authority state-funded schools and 86% England state-funded schools.
  • Further education college or other further education provider was 28% compared to 28% at local authority state-funded schools and 34% England state-funded schools.
  • Sixth form college was 60% compared to 17% at local authority state-funded schools and 13% England state-funded schools.
