Pupil Premium Awards 2017

The County High School, Leftwich has won a prestigious award, recognising the achievement of students supported by the Pupil Premium. On 29th June, Miss Brandreth, Mr Snelson and three Year 9 students had the honour of attending the Pupil Premium 2017 Awards Ceremony at the Houses of Parliament.

The County High School, Leftwich was one of only eight Secondary schools to be nominated for the national award and we were delighted to win the Secondary Regional Champion for the North West.

The Pupil Premium Awards are sponsored by TES, in partnership with the Department for Education. The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of schools in using the Pupil Premium, which was introduced in 2010. The award validates The County High School, Leftwich's approach to creating a learning environment in which all of its students can succeed and be able to take advantage of the opportunities it offers. Pupil Premium funding is used to provide impactful, targeted intervention programmes and to subsidise enrichment activities, thus ensuring all students can enjoy and achieve whilst at The County High School, Leftwich.

Mr Snelson commented "The Awards ceremony was an amazing and insightful day, where the students, Miss Brandreth and myself had the opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament whilst Members of Parliament and the Lords were debating the Queen's speech. To walk through the Central Lobby and imagine Prime Ministers, Kings and Queens gone by who walked the same steps and observe current MPs and Lords go about their business had a huge impact on all of us. Winning the award demonstrates we are ensuring every child reaches their potential during their time with us and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at The County High School, Leftwich, including teachers, support staff, students and parents / carers."
