Heading For College
As a school, we are fortunate to be surrounded by a range of outstanding Colleges of Further Education which offer the full range of post-16 qualification opportunities for our students once they leave our school. Typically, over 85% of Year 11 go on to study full-time post-16 courses, with most other students attending part-time alongside employment. We take pride, therefore, in ensuring pupils are well-prepared and that the process of transition is positive and smooth.
Careers education is an important part of KS4 and is supported by an annual Careers Fair which all the local colleges attend. In addition, College staff come into school to visit Year 11 early in the Autumn Term to outline the full range of qualifications and subjects available and also their enrolment procedures.
Students’ tutors then work alongside Connexions staff to assist making applications, with guidance being offered on: CVs, personal statements and interviews ; this is given added weight by a special day devoted to this process with support from local business personnel.
As a result, our students’ record of success in their post-16 studies is very high, our close links with all our local Colleges (Sir John Deane’s, Mid-Cheshire, South Cheshire and Reaseheath) ensuring that we are able to support students as they continue along their many successful learning pathways.
